MP4 and MOV are close relatives. Both can hold the same video and sound, so when an MP4 uses H.264 video and AAC sound, as most do, the tool simply repackages it as MOV. That takes seconds and changes nothing in the picture or sound.

Will the MOV lose quality?

Most apps play both. Some Apple and professional editing workflows expect QuickTime MOV files, and some people just prefer them for Apple devices.
