Why convert JPG to PNG?
PNG is a lossless format. Once your image is a PNG, you can edit and save it again and again without it losing any more quality, which is useful before editing, cropping or adding text.
Some websites, apps and design tools also ask specifically for PNG files.
Converting doesn't bring back detail that JPG compression already removed, and PNG files are usually larger than the original JPG. That's normal. If you want smaller files, JPG or WebP is the better choice.

Will converting to PNG improve my image quality?
No. The PNG keeps the image exactly as it is now, but it can't restore detail lost when the JPG was created. It does stop any further loss when you edit and save again.
Why is the PNG file bigger than my JPG?
PNG stores every pixel exactly, without the lossy compression JPG uses, so photos take up more space. This is expected.
Will the background become transparent?
No. JPG images have no transparency, so the PNG has the same solid background as the original.
Is photo information (EXIF) kept?
No. Metadata such as the camera model and GPS location is removed, and photos are rotated the right way up before saving.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. The conversion happens entirely in your web browser, on your own device. Your files are never sent to us or anyone else, so they stay completely private.
Is it really free?
Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many files you convert. The only limit is your device: very large files need more memory.
Does it work on my phone?
